Pinch hitter Mark Goforth doubled to cut LSU's lead to 13-3. Andy Rice singled to put runners on the corners. Tyler Moore grounded out to third base to drive in State's fourth run.

Jason Nappi grounded out to Cain, who nearly took too long before lobbing the ball to Buzzy Haydel at first base for the second out.

Russ Sneed struck out for the third out.
