LSU BASEBALL BLOG

9:50 p.m. -- It's 14-6

In the bottom of the sixth inning Leon Landry singled with one out and stole second base, and Ryan Schimpf walked. Michael Hollander greeted reliever Lee Swindle by reaching on a fielder's choice as State tried to turn two but couldn't, leaving runners on the corners.

Jared Mitchell hit a ground ball to second base, and with nobody covering first base, the Bulldogs could do nothing with it. Landry scored to give LSU a 14-6 lead.

Blake Dean walked to load the bases with two outs. Derek Helenihi popped up to third base to end the inning.

I can't believe they replaced Ryan Verdugo in the 5 inning with 2 outs in today's game. It is not like it was a one or two run game. They could have least given him the chance to get the win, That does not show me anything about the coaches confidence in his pitchers. I can not believe it. It is so unfair to a pitcher that has been so consistant all year and has contributed to so many great wins for LSU. Ryan is LSU's best pitcher. The stats don't lie. Do they ever look at them???? It doesn't look like it.
