The crew is getting Alex Box Stadium ready for tonight's game.
While some LSU pitchers stretch in right field and gather in the bullpen, you can hear the ping of the bats from the cages, where some of the Tigers are taking early cuts. A manager is using a leaf blower to rid the third base coaching box of as much dirt as possible.
"Wave on Wave" by Pat Green was playing over the loudspeakers when I pulled into the parking lot. We park in Lot K. How perfect is that for a baseball stadium, I ask?
Now there's no music inside Alex Box Stadium. That high-powered blower is making the loudest sounds, but I can hear music from nearby tailgate parties across the street. Doobie Brothers: "Listen to the Music."
There is a temporary video board in the gap between sections of left-field bleachers so LSU can show some highlights this weekend when it announces, piece by piece, the All-Alex Box Stadium "Omaha Era" team. I'm guessing we might see some highlights from The Box as well.
It's a beautiful afternoon. The wind is blowing out. I don't think there will be a lot of elbow room come the second or third inning.
See you here later?
