Paul Mainieri said his rotation for the Mississippi State series will be Ryan Verdugo, Blake Martin and a starter to be announced.
Jordan Brown (3-0, 4.83) injured an ankle in the crush of teammates during the celebration after Matt Clark's ninth-inning home run Sunday in a 9-8 comeback victory, Mainieri said. If he's healthy by then, Brown could start Sunday's game.
Mainieri said Verdugo has a final exam Saturday, so Mainieri decided it would be for the best to get his weekend start out of the way Friday and let him focus on his test.
The matchups for the series:
Friday -- LSU junior left-hander Ryan Verdugo (7-2, 2.86) vs. MSU junior right-hander Chad Crosswhite (2-4, 9.33).
Saturday -- LSU junior left-hander Blake Martin (3-3, 5.05) vs. MSU sophomore right-hander Ricky Bowen (3-5, 6.79).
Sunday -- LSU starter to be announced vs. MSU senior left-hander Justin Pigott (2-2, 4.42).
11:30 update: Mississippi State coach Ron Polk confirmed his three starters a few minutes ago.
