LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Kentucky shook up LSU and extended the lead in the bottom of the fifth, slamming a pair of home runs and nearly hitting a third. The Wildcats scored four runs.
Ryan Wilkes led off with a single to left field. Brian Spear struck out, and Chris Wade doubled down the left-field line to put runners on second and third with one out.
Shane Ardoin replaced Jordan Brown as LSU's pitcher. He's a situational left-hander, so he didn't figure to be in the game for long. Daniel Bradshaw, a right-hander was also in the bullpen with Ardoin.
Keenan Wiley got the best of the left-on-left matchup, hitting a three-run homer over the wall in right-center field for a 7-3 lead. That was Wiley's second career homer.
Marcus Nidiffer hit one over the wall in left field, but Jared Mitchell leaped and brought it back into the park, robbing Nidiffer of a home run and making it the second out.
Leon Landry tried to do the same on Bryan Rose's drive to right-center, but it eluded Landry's glove, going just far enough to be a solo home run for an 8-3 lead.
That brought Bradshaw into the game with the bases empty and two outs. He faced Collin Cowgill, who is more of a home run threat than the others who went deep in the inning. He leads Kentucky with 16 homers, but Bradshaw got him to end the inning with a fly to medium right field.
It's 8-3 as we move to the sixth inning.
