Second quarter

LSU — DeAngelo Peterson 12 pass from Jordan Jefferson (Josh Jasper kick), 9:12. DRIVE: 13 plays, 91 yards, 6:11. KEY PLAYS: Peterson lights the fuse on the Tigers’ best drive of the season when he snares a 28-yard pass from Jefferson to move the ball from the 6-yard-line to the 34 for some breathing room. Jefferson also gets in a rhythm, with an 8-yard gain on an option keeper and a 15-yard scramble to convert on third-and-8, with R.J. Jackson throwing a key block. LSU 7, Alabama 0.

ALABAMA — Leigh Tiffin 28 FG, 5:52. DRIVE: 8-40-3:20. KEY PLAYS: Javier Arenas returns the kickoff 40 yards to near midfield. Trent Richardson darts 15 yards on two carries and McElroy and Marquis Maze connect for 12 yards. From the 18, McElroy misses Julio Jones in the end zone and overthrows Darius Hanks on another potential touchdown to prompt the field-goal attempt. LSU 7, Alabama 3.

Third quarter

ALABAMA — Darius Hanks 21 pass from Greg McElroy (Tiffin kick), 11:40. DRIVE: 8-81-3:20. KEY PLAYS: Alabama running back Mark Ingram rushes four times for 46 yards and catches a pass for 12 yards, accounting for four first downs on the drive. On the TD, McElroy rolls right and finally hits the mark on a throw to the end zone. Alabama 10, LSU 7.

LSU — Safety, McElroy penalized for intentional grounding in the end zone, 5:55. KEY PLAYS: Jasper pins the Crimson Tide inside the 1-year-line for the second time of the day with a 45-yard punt. McElroy sneaks for a yard on first down and Jones drops a pass on the right flat on second. On third down, McElroy drops back to pass and gets hammered by Drake Nevis. McElroy gets a pass off but is flagged for intentional grounding. Alabama 10, LSU 9.

LSU — Stevan Ridley 8 run (pass failed), 3:19. DRIVE: 6, 59, 2:36. KEY PLAYS: Charles Scott barely carves out a first down with a 4-yard gain on third-and-4 and then blasts through the heart of the Alabama defense for a 34-yard pickup, suffering a game-ending collarbone injury at the end of the play. An offsides penalty on the Tide sets up second-and-3 from the 8 and from there Ridley takes a handoff left, bounces off a tackle at the line right and rumbles into the end zone. LSU 15, Alabama 10.

Fourth quarter

ALABAMA — Tiffin 20 FG, 12:35. DRIVE: 12, 65, 5:44. KEY PLAYS: Ingram is again a huge key with 48 rushing yards and McElroy adds 11 yards on a draw early in the series. With Alabama knocking on the door from the 2, the Tide breaks the huddle with 12 players and is penalized 5 yards. Ingram gets those 5 back on a shot pass, but Alabama has to settle for the kick. LSU 15, Alabama 13.

ALABAMA — Jones 73 pass from McElroy (Richardson run), 10:24. DRIVE: 1, 73, :13. Jones splits wide left takes two steps back after the snap, snatches the pass from McElroy and gets loose down the sideline untouched for a back-breaking touchdown. Alabama 21, LSU 15

ALABAMA — Tiffin 40 FG, 3:04. DRIVE: 11, 31, 6:14. KEY PLAYS: The Tide nearly goes three-and-out, but LSU’s Daniel Graff is flagged for running into punter P.J. Fitzgerald to turn fourth-and-6 into fourth-and-1. The Alabama offense trots back out with Ingram in the wildcat formation and he pokes forward for 2 yards and a first down. After one more first down, the Tide is close enough for Tiffin’s third field goal that seals the victory. Alabama 24, LSU 15.

Final score: Alabama 24, LSU 15.

Records: No. 9 LSU 7-2, 4-2 SEC; No. 3 Alabama 9-0, 6-0.
