LSU softball signs catcher Houston

LSU softball coach Yvette Girouard announced the signing of Lauren Houston on Tuesday to close LSU’s recruiting class in the early signing period.

Houston, a native of Youngsville, has started at catcher for three seasons at St. Thomas More. Last season as a junior, Houston hit .436 with two home runs, 10 doubles and 22 runs batted in.

With the 2009 gymnastic season looming, LSU fans have an opportunity to reserve season tickets currently.

In 2008, LSU reached the NCAA Super Six for the first time in the program’s history. The Super Six is the equivalent of basketball’s Final Four.
