LSU student-athletes receive degrees
Kevin Dessauer of the men’s tennis team was one of 35 University Medalists recognized by LSU on Friday when the school held its spring commencement.
In all, 49 LSU student-athletes received their bachelor’s degrees with another three former Tigers earning master’s degrees.
Dessauer, who has twice been named the Southeastern Conference men’s tennis scholar-athlete of the year, graduated with a perfect 4.0 grade point average in kinesiology. He plans to attend physical therapy school in the fall.
Other LSU student-athletes who graduated with summa cum laude honors Friday included Staten Spencer (women’s tennis), Katherine Accardo (track and field), Paige Brown (swimming and diving), and James Presley (track and field). Caroline Vanderpool of the women’s soccer team graduated magna cum laude with a degree in political science.
Seven members of LSU’s 2007 national championship football team received their diplomas on Friday. Of the 25 seniors on the team, 15 have earned their college degrees.
