AUSTIN, Texas — The 20th-ranked LSU women’s golf team was unable to make up any ground on the field Friday and remains just outside the qualifying bubble after two rounds of the NCAA Central Regional Golf Tournament at the University of Texas Golf Course.

The Lady Tigers will need to make up two strokes and one position in today’s final round in an attempt to qualify for the NCAA Division I Women’s Championship in Albuquerque, N.M.. The top eight teams and the top two individuals who are not on the top eight teams advance to the championship tournament.

Megan McChrystal is fifth among that list of players entering the final round whose teams are not in the top eight.

The freshman has posted back-to-back rounds of 1-over par 73s. McChrystal’s total of 146 is presently tied for 15th place after 36 holes.

LSU’s round of 302, 14-over par, was two strokes off the 300 first-round total and the two added strokes was the difference after two rounds between ninth place and a tie for the eighth and final qualifying spot. Nebraska stands at 24-over 600, with LSU at 602.

Also outside the bubble but chasing with LSU are North Carolina State two shots back at 604 and Florida State one more shot back at 605.
