The Equestrian Club at LSU will travel to Burbank, Calif., on Wednesday to compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association’s 2008 National Championship Show for the first time.

The team, coached by Leaf Boswell, is one of 19 competing for the title Thursday through Sunday. The team qualified by winning the zone and regional championships this season. The team also placed either first or second in every show in which it competed this year.

The seven riders who will compete are Margaret Covert, Shelli Danjean, Elise Madara, Lauren Pontoppidan, Katie Schluter, Danielle Taylor and Emily Taylor.

Information about the show, including results, will be available at ihsainc.com.

The LSU equestrian club was formed in 1999 and has been competing in the IHSA since its establishment. The club’s 17 members compete in six divisions: open fences/flat, intermediate fences/flat, novice fences/flat, advanced walk/trot/canter, beginner walk/trot/canter, and walk/trot.
