Series with Cal State Fullerton on 2011 LSU slate
LSU unveiled its 2011 baseball schedule Thursday, a slate featuring a home weekend series with perennial powerhouse Cal State Fullerton and the Southeastern Conference opening weekend at Alex Box Stadium against 2010 league champion Florida.
The Tigers start with 16 straight home games with the season-opening weekend against Wake Forest and former New Orleans coach Tom Walter.
Besides Fullerton, LSU will host weekend non-conference series against Holy Cross and Princeton. The Tigers’ non-league slate also includes two games each (home-and-away) against Tulane, UNO and Nicholls State, and home contests against Louisiana-Lafayette and the state’s three other Southland Conference teams.
In addition to Florida, LSU’s home SEC season includes Ole Miss, Auburn, Kentucky and Tennessee.
LSU will square off with Southern Miss for a second year in a row in the Wally Pontiff Jr. Classic at Zephyr Field in Metairie.
Home games at the box are set for 6:30 p.m. during the mid-week and usually 7 p.m., 3 p.m. and 1 p.m. on the weekends, although the SEC game times are subject to change.
