Hosanna's McGuire signs with Texas university

Hosanna Christian boys basketball player D’Quincy McGuire recently signed with Southwestern Assembly of God University in Waxahachie, Texas.
McGuire averaged 18 points, six rebounds, four steals and four assists per game for Hosanna. He set a school record with nine 3-pointers in a playoff game against Glemora.
McGuire was named the District 9B’s best defensive player after getting 163 deflections, 77 forced turnovers and 129 steals.
Young named new UNO coach
NEW ORLEANS — Kim Young was named the University of New Orleans’ new volleyball coach on Wednesday.
Young spent the last six years as Grambling’s coach where she compiled a 128-79 record and a 45-2 mark in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
As a player, Young was SWAC Player of the Year three times, leading the tigers to league titles in 1996 and 1997.
Nicholls St. names Tramel new coach
THIBODAUX — TeAna Tramel was named Nicholls State’s new volleyball coach on Wednesday.
Tramel, who spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Washington State, is the seventh head coach in the 35th year of the program.
Before going to Washington State, Tramel served as volleyball coach and assistant athletic director at Bethany College in Lindsbourg, Kan.
Lucas to take part in NCAA clinic
HAMMOND — Southeastern Louisiana University football coach Mike Lucas will be one of two Southland Conference coaches who will take part in a free youth clinic that is part of the NCAA Football Youth Initiative on Saturday in Frisco, Texas.
