SLU’s Artigues joins Pearl River Hall
POPLARVILLE, Miss. — Southeastern Louisiana baseball coach Jay Artigues will be inducted into the Pearl River Community College Sports Hall of Fame today, as part of the school’s homecoming festivities.
Artigues spent two years playing for the Wildcats and later returned to lead the program
During his time as a player at Pearl River in 1988-89, Artigues batted .414 as a freshman and .416 as a sophomore.
The Pearl River alum came back to Poplarville to become the program’s head coach, a position he held for the 2002-2005 seasons, compiling a record of 168-51. The Wildcats set a school record for wins with 42 and reached the Junior College World Series in his first year.
