The road to the start of Sun Belt Conference play doesn’t get any easier for the University of Louisiana at Lafayette as the Cajuns travel to face Nebraska after last week’s 31-3 loss to LSU.

The Cornhuskers, coached by former LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini, will have their 300th consecutive home sellout for today’s game.

Nebraska quarterback Zac Lee suffered a fractured thumb in last week’s 16-15 loss to Virginia Tech but is expected to play today.

“They are a very physical team, especially up front,” ULL coach Rickey Bustle said. “Their quarterback is also playing extremely well on the outside and the corners.”

ULL (2-1) is led by quarterback Chris Masson (54-96-3, 627 yards, 3 TDs and running back Undrea Sails (56-240, 2 TDs).

Elsewhere, Nicholls State gets the chance to welcome former LSU quarterback Ryan Perrilloux back to Louisiana, and Southeastern Louisiana faces its first Football Championship Subdivision opponent of the season.

The Colonels host Jacksonville State with the Gamecocks coming off a 45-13 win over Alabama A&M and the Colonels coming off a 48-13 loss to Louisiana Tech.

Southeastern Louisiana (2-1) dropped a 52-6 decision to Ole Miss and travels to face South Dakota.

Quarterback Brian Babin (70-100-1, 853 yards, 8 TDs) leads an SLU offense which has outscored opponents 116-79.

Lions coach Mike Lucas said today’s contest is crucial for the Lions, who open Southland Conference play Oct. 10 at Texas State.

“This is an important football game,” Lucas said. “It’s an FCS game. It’s our first FCS game this year. We’ve played some Division II’s (one was an NAIA team) and we’ve played an FBS. Now it’s time that we get in with folks that are on our same level, so we’ll be able to tell some more things about our team this week.”

In other state games, McNeese State is at Tulane; Louisiana-Monroe visits Florida Atlantic; Grambling travels to Oklahoma State; Northwestern State is at Baylor; Louisiana College travels to Huntingdon.

MCNEESE STATE AT TULANE: The Cowboys (3-0) and Green Wave (0-2) meet for the first time.
