An idle LSU football team dropped one spot in both national polls on Sunday as Missouri jumped the Tigers following its 52-17 victory over Nebraska on Saturday night.

LSU still remains ranked in the top five in the nation as the Tigers are No. 3 in the USA Today Coaches Poll and No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25. LSU, which travels to face Florida on Saturday, was ranked No. 2 in the coaches poll and No. 3 in the AP poll last week.

LSU is second in the Harris Interactive Poll.

LSU, which was off on Saturday, is 4-0 overall and 2-0 in Southeastern Conference action. The Tigers haven’t played since a 34-24 win over Mississippi State on Sept. 27.

LSU’s national rankings this week extends the Tigers’ streak of consecutive weeks in the top 10 to a school-record 28 straight periods. LSU has been ranked in the top 10 of every USA Today Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 since Nov. 12, 2006.

The Tigers have also spent a school-record 89 consecutive weeks in the USA Today Coaches Poll and for 88 straight weeks in the AP Poll. The last time LSU failed to make the top 25 in either poll came following the Tigers loss to Texas in the 2003 Cotton Bowl to conclude the 2002 season.

Oklahoma is the No. 1-ranked team in both polls. The Sooners are followed by Alabama in the AP Top 25 and by Missouri in the coaches poll. The top five in the AP Top 25 is rounded out by Missouri at No. 3, LSU at No. 4 and Texas at No. 5.

The coaches poll top five is rounded out by LSU at No. 3, Alabama at No. 4 and Texas at No. 5.

LSU’s opponent this week — Florida — is ranked No. 11 in the AP poll and No. 12 in the coaches poll.

Other SEC teams in the top 25 include Georgia at No. 10 in both polls, Vanderbilt at No. 13 in the AP poll and No. 14 in the coaches poll, and Auburn at No. 20 in the AP poll and No. 23 in the coaches poll.
