Troy’s football team went about its normal business Tuesday, preparing for the Herculean task of taking on one of college football’s best programs.

Whether the Trojans get their shot at No. 7-ranked LSU in a few days or 10 weeks remains to be determined.

The Tigers (1-0) and Troy (1-0) are slated to meet at 7 p.m. Saturday at Tiger Stadium.

No decision was reached by LSU officials Tuesday, the day after Hurricane Gustav rendered Baton Rouge and much of Louisiana wobbly.

Electricity has not been completely restored on LSU’s campus, and Tiger Stadium sustained some damage, as did several other athletic venues.

LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva met with Chancellor Michael Martin Tuesday to discuss the amount of damage to athletic facilities, but a final decision on whether the LSU-Troy game will be played this weekend was not reached.

“No decision was made (Tuesday),” LSU athletic department spokesman Herb Vincent said.

“We’re continuing to assess damage before a final decision is made.”

That decision may hinge on whether an agreement can be made to shift the game to Nov. 15 when both teams have an open date.

With the game in limbo this weekend, both teams went back to work Tuesday.

LSU athletic media relations director Michael Bonnette said the Tigers met at 1 p.m. Tuesday so coach Les Miles could make sure everyone was safe and their families were accounted for.

The team had position meetings, followed by a walk-through at the McClendon indoor practice facility.

“They’re just trying, with the limited resources available to them under the circumstances, to prepare as best they can as if there will be a game Saturday,” Bonnette said.
