Southern University outside hitter Ena Payne was named to the preseason All-Southwestern Athletic Conference volleyball team, the league announced Wednesday.
Payne, a 5-foot-10 junior from Breaux Bridge, led SU with 281 kills last season.
Alabama A&M, which is the pick to win the SWAC Eastern Division, had the preseason offensive and defensive players of the year. Brittani Lewis, a 6-0 senior middle hitter, was named offensive player of the year, while 5-4 sophomore Rose Corneille was named defensive player of the year.
