Blake Gautreaux (149) was the 12-13-year-old winner with Peyton McCulloch (150) and Brennan LeBlanc (152) right behind. Grant Welch (154) won the 9-11-year-old division followed by Peter Mata (156) and Mark Bienvenu (191).

Breaux and Johnson teamed to win the “best ball” category with a score of 69 with Gautreaux and Ben Booth (70) winning the 12-13-year-old group and Mata and Bienvenu (77) the 9-11-year-old title.

BERGERON CLAIMS TITLE AT THE ISLAND: Houma native Mitchell Bergeron won a three-way playoff to claim the overall championship at The Island Junior Classic at The Island Country Club in Plaquemine.

Bergeron, a Nicholls State graduate, shot a final round 2-over 74 to finish in a tie along with Hunter English of Port Allen and Kelsey Angelle of Arnaudville.

Bergeron’s par on the 180-yard, par three 16th in sudden death provided him with his second victory over the summer. He also won the AJGT Stanford Group Junior Classic.

Metairie’s Brooke Braun claimed her second straight girls overall title while Sam Justice of Baton Rouge was the boys 12-14-year-old winner.
