BRCC sweeps doubleheader

ELLISVILLE, Miss. — Baton Rouge Community College swept a pair of baseball games at Jones Community College, winning 3-2 in extra innings and 10-2 in the second game.
BRCC (13-22) plays a doubleheader at Southwest Community College today and then returns to host Mississippi Gulf Coast at 4 p.m. Thursday.
In the first game, Evan Phillips had two hits, including a double, and drove in two, while Richard Duke had the other RBI for BRCC. Justin Martinez was 2-for-2 and scored twice.
Roland Rodrigue (4-5) got the win.
In the second game, Baco Romero was 2-for-4, with a double, two runs and two RBIs and Jared Broussard had two RBIs and a double.
Travis Bertrand (2-4) was the winner, with the Bears falling behind 2-0 in the first inning but scoring the game’s final 10 runs, including a six-run ninth.
Jones’ Dustin Gizmore had two hits, including an RBI in a two-run first inning.
