The scores with one week to go have gone higher in the Louisiana USBC Women’s Bowling Association’s 60th championship tournament in Lake Charles.

The Cloud Walkers from Monroe now have the handicap team lead with 3,250 with the Baton Rouge Who Gives a Split No. 2 team dropping to fifth at 3,208. That’s in the five-player division. In the new four-player team event, the Baton Rouge Lanebusters are second at 2,676 with the Baton Rouge Big Girls third at 2,670.

But Jill Lamberth’s 685 scratch singles and her 814 handicap singles total looks unbeatable and even better she has been joined by Baton Rouge bowlers in the next two spots as Van Do is second at 745 and Connie Goodman third at 732. Carla Watson is eighth at 715.

Baton Rouge bowlers are on top in both doubles divisions with Missy Sylvia and Mary Mansur on top in scratch at 1,255 with Connie Goodman and Christine Teekel the leaders in the handicap division with 1,450.

The top four bowlers in handicap doubles are from Baton Rouge with Goodman first at 2,185, followed by Do (2,106), Teekel (2,105) and Lamberth (2,104). I can’t remember a time when three places at the top of the handicap all-events would end up with one pin separating each spot.

Leslie Engeron of New Orleans averaged 217 to take the scratch all-events lead with 1,954, four pins better than Vicki Cella of Shreveport. Baton Rouge’s Mansur is third at 1,918. Vera Young is sixth at 1,767.

We’ll have unofficial final results as they become available.
