19th Judicial District Court

This court, in the Governmental Building at 222 St. Louis St., has jurisdiction over East Baton Rouge Parish and has criminal and civil divisions.

The criminal court judges are Tony Marabella, Richard Anderson, Mike Erwin, Bonnie Jackson, Lou Daniel, Chip Moore, Don Johnson, Trudy White and Wilson Fields.

White and Fields also handle civil cases.

The civil court judges are Janice Clark, Tim Kelley, William Morvant, Mike Caldwell, Kay Bates and Todd Hernandez.

A new state court building is under construction adjacent to the current building and is expected to be ready for occupancy by the middle or latter part of next year. The new courthouse is on North Boulevard between St. Louis and St. Ferdinand streets.

1st Circuit Court of Appeal

This court, at 1600 N. Third St., has appellate jurisdiction over 16 parishes: East and West Baton Rouge, Ascension, Assumption, East and West Feliciana, Iberville, Lafourche, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa, Terrebonne and Washington.

The judges are Burrell Carter, Vanessa Whipple, Randolph Parro, James Kuhn, John Guidry, John Pettigrew, Bob Downing, Edward “Jimmy’’ Gaidry, Mike McDonald, Page McClendon, Jeff Hughes and Jewel “Duke’’ Welch.
