The East Baton Rouge Parish Library system offers a Main Library and 12 community and regional libraries and a bookmobile.

Each of the libraries provides books, journals, videotapes, audio cassettes, CDs, DVDs, paintings and sculptures.

Patrons also have access to the library’s online catalog where they can renew library materials.

Computer classes are offered for free. Libraries offer adult services that include a summer reading program and workshops.

Children’s services include story times, arts, crafts and more.

Teenagers can take advantage of Young Adult Services, which offers information for school projects. Financial aid workshops and practice tests for the ACT college entrance exam are offered, as are volunteer math tutors.

The library system co-sponsors a public reading program, “The Big Read,” which encourages adults and teenagers to read and discuss issues raised by this year’s selected novel, “A Lesson Before Dying.”

Libraries also feature scheduled programs, speakers, workshops and seminars for people of all ages, year-round.
