The Baton Rouge Rose Society is a nonprofit organization, affiliated with the American Rose Society and sponsor of the Botanical Rose Garden at Independence Park. The organization partners with the Botanic Garden, BREC, LSU, the ARS and Burden to educate the public about rose growing.

There are many activities planned for 2008. Members will be at the Baton Rouge Garden Show at LSU on March 29-30. Then on April 27, the organization will partner with the Burden Center on Essen Lane to sponsor “Rose Day.” This event will include guided tours of the Burden rose gardens, expert rose growing advice and presentations on rose care at the Burden Center.

The Baton Rouge Rose Society meets on the second Wednesday of each month, except July and August, at the Independence Park Garden Center at 7 p.m. For more information, call Dawn Plaisance at 642-5652 or check out the Web site at http://www.geocities.com/batonrougerosesociety/.
