The Advocate was right to call our attention to the Tea Party poster that spelled out “Hussein Obama” with a swastika and a hammer and sickle, and I agree that it reflects horribly on what passes as political commentary today. More disturbing to me, however, was the fact that no small number of people will be moved by this childish attempt to smear our president.   The Bond Issue: Part One (Story 11/1/09)
A $901 million tax package that Mayor-President Kip Holden says is critical to the city’s future would have an impact on everyone who lives, shops or does business in East Baton Rouge Parish.
This is the first of a four-part series on the Nov. 14 bond issue.

Today's gallery includes photos of Veterans Day observances, Tea Party protesters at the Capitol, highlights from Sunday's Saints' game and recycled art from a show which will benefit Habitat for Humanity.

A political action committee formed to promote a $901 million tax package on the Nov. 14 ballot raised $43,500 in campaign contributions in the past few days, according to campaign finance disclosure reports.
