WBRZ & The Advocate's Fireworks on the Mississippi
Star-Spangled Celebration ~ Tuesday, July 4th

For decades, WBRZ Channel 2 and The Advocate have provided our community with the biggest and most spectacular 4th of July fireworks show in Louisiana. Celebrate Independence Day with us and see this incredible fireworks display on the Mississippi River.
Schedule of Events
8:00 a.m. The BASF Freedom Mile – Runners take your mark! Join the Club South Runners for this one mile foot race through downtown Baton Rouge. Visit www.lawired.com/csr/home.htm for more information.
12:00 noon Vendor Booths Open – Food galore, from ice cream and pizza to hamburgers and funnel cakes and spicy Cajun cuisine. Ice cold Coca-Cola, Budweiser, and bottled water will be on sale to quench your thirst. All this and so much more!
Looking for activities for the kids? Face painting will be available and the USS KIDD will be open for touring until 3:00 p.m. with patriotic music broadcast until the live performances start at 3:15 p.m.
3:15 – 4:30 p.m. Phillip Glyn & Bliss – This up-and-coming young artist from southwest Louisiana has shared the stage with Mark Chesnut and opened for such legendary names as David Allen Coe, Shenandoah, the Marshall Tucker Band, and Hootie & The Blowfish.
5:00 – 6:00 p.m. Van Broussard & The Bayou Boogie Band – These Louisiana rock ‘n roll legends will be performing all of the best of classic rock n’ roll.
6:00 – 6:30 p.m. “Air Raid—Baton Rouge!!!” – The Louisiana Air National Guard will conduct a fly-by with F-15 Eagle jet aircraft in tribute to our men and women in uniform. Immediately following, grab your helmets and take cover as vintage World War II aircraft stage a mock attack on the USS KIDD. The veteran destroyer will defend herself with her main guns. Don’t miss the experience!
Hot Air Balloon Lift-Off – Watch several hot air balloons light up the evening skies.
6:30 – 8:00 p.m. The Floyd Brown Band – Get your dancing shoes on and get ready to hear this Louisiana band perform such classics as Kiss Me Just One More Time, I Can’t Sleep If I Can’t Sleep With You, and Strokin’. Floyd will be joined on stage by artists Ami Brown, G.G. Shinn, and Debbie Traylor.
8:00 – 9:00 p.m. Baton Rouge Concert Band – The Concert Band returns with a medley of patriotic classics to lead the way into the fireworks.
9:00 p.m. WBRZ-TV & The Advocate Present “Fireworks on the Mississippi” – Close out the day with a bang! A spectacular fireworks display on the Mississippi River commemorates our nation's independence at this year's celebration.
No ice chests, BBQ pits, tents, or pets on the festival grounds, please.
