Bayou Classic Flashbacks
Darren Coates scored a rushing touchdown and caught a touchdown pass as Southern defeated Grambling, 22-13, in the 34th Bayou Classic on Saturday afternoon in the Superdome. It was the first Bayou Classic since the death in April of former Grambling coach Eddie Robinson, one of the central figures in the Classic's creation.

Jackson State added insult to injury in a 32-26 victory against Southern at A.W. Mumford Stadium. The Jaguars suffered four injuries to significant players as they lost their second consecutive game.

Southern's defense led the way again as the Jaguars stayed perfect with a 21-2 victory against Alabama State in Mobile. The Jaguars improved to 5-0 overall and 3-0 in the SWAC.

Southern-Tennessee State Flashbacks
Southern rallied from a 21-point deficit to claim a 41-34 victory against Tennessee State and stay unbeaten. In all, Southern's defense forced five turnovers in the second half while Lee threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. The Jaguars are 4-0 heading into a trip to Alabama State.

Southern-Miss. Valley Flashbacks
Southern is 2-0 after a 24-6 victory against Mississippi Valley State in the Chicago Football Classic. The Jaguars took control of a scoreless game in the second quarter as quarterback Bryant Lee threw two touchdown passes.
