It was the first Bayou Classic since the death in April of former Grambling coach Eddie Robinson, one of the central figures in the Classic's creation.

In all, Southern's defense forced five turnovers in the second half while Lee threw for 305 yards and four touchdowns in the victory. The Jaguars are 4-0 heading into a trip to Alabama State.
