Our Views: Baton Rouge goes country
Louisiana boasts thousands of country music fans, but you don’t have to be among them to welcome the news of a new country music festival coming to Baton Rouge.
Quint Davis, producer-director of the long-running and successful New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, is now spearheading the production of Bayou Country Superfest, a two-day country music festival planned for next year’s Memorial Day weekend in Tiger Stadium.
The lineup for the festival reads like a Who’s Who of country music: Taylor Swift, Kenny Chesney, Brooks and Dunn, and Keith Urban, to name a few.
A number of area officials, including city-parish Mayor-President Kip Holden, Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitors Bureau CEO Paul Arrigo, and Lt. Gov. Mitch Landrieu, helped organize the festival.
We tip our 10-gallon hat to all of those who helped put these plans in motion.
