Letter: Michael Jackson and Democrats
The truth hurts, so it’s no surprise that The Advocate’s incisive editorial cartoon showing Michael Jackson as a pawn of the Republican Party has Jackson flailing about and trying to defend his deceptive and woefully ineffective congressional campaign.
In his campaign literature, Jackson claims he’s an “Independent Democrat” — good luck finding that nonexistent party affiliation in the voting booth — but he tells The Advocate that he is an independent. As if that doublespeak wasn’t enough, Jackson’s campaign is being bankrolled by Republican contributions.
Jackson thinks so little of 6th District congressional voters that last spring, he told them not to vote at all until he changed his party affiliation. Actions speak louder than words, and Michael Jackson’s actions and shameless lack of principles are an insult to the people of the 6th Congressional District.
