Letter: La.’s best interest with Democrats
Now is the time for all good people to come to the aid of their party. John Kennedy’s TV ads would have us believe that he wants to be our senator so that he can take his alleged frugality to Washington for the good of Louisiana and all the other states.
His ads should come with a disclaimer: while his name may lead people to think otherwise, he is a Republican, the party of “our” president, who, in eight short years, has transformed a balanced budget into a trillion-dollar deficit. A trillion is a thousand billion dollars. In addition, he unilaterally started a war and a costly occupation in the Middle East.
In this age of partisan bickering, the only way we can make our disapproval heard is by voting Democrat. Sen. Mary Landrieu is the only Democrat in the race, and she has proven her worth in our darkest hour, after Hurricane Katrina.
In the same vein, Don Cazayoux is the sole Democrat running for U.S. House in this district.
With apologies to Michael Jackson (he lost the Democratic primary in a special election earlier this year), and while I have no doubt that he is a man of the people, when it comes down to roll-call votes in Congress, a poor state like Louisiana is best served by a bona fide Democrat.
Unless we are really as dumb as they say we are, it’s high time the people of Louisiana realize what side their bread is buttered on, and vote accordingly.
