Letter: Dorsey and Broome should resign

  • Published: Jul 25, 2008 - Page: 8B - UPDATED: 12:05 a.m.

Sen. Yvonne Dorsey should resign her position as a state senator because of her racial comment about Gov. Bobby Jindal. Senate President Pro Tem Sharon Broome should also resign her position for her lack of condemnation of the comment.

Each of these so-called “representatives” has no business representing anyone with such attitudes. Had the governor made such a comment there would have been an instant demand for his resignation. This is a racial slur any way you look at it, and should be condemned by all members of the state House and Senate, black or white.

Racism is not dead, and whites do not have a monopoly on it. Racism is only perpetuated by such comments.

Yvonne Dorsey, D-Baton Rouge, should resign immediately, and Sharon Broome, D-Baton Rouge, should follow suit
