Letter: Jindal praised for vetoes of funding

Vetoes: Thank you, Gov. Bobby Jindal for taking the first steps in creating a budget for the entire state, for removing the projects that should be under community, philanthropy, church, local government, self-help and/or any concerned citizen.

It’s like setting up triage; one should prioritize the mandatory objectives that encompass the needs of the entire state. There would need to be sufficient resources to apply to those objectives so that the project will be successful in an efficient amount of time that would produce long-term satisfaction.

I would hope that the representatives of this state realize that their position is to represent their community in offering services that would benefit the state of Louisiana as a whole, not in reaping personal benefits for themselves.

If each parish builds its share of the road, then the entire state could be paved with literacy, knowledge, science, engineering, arts etc.; every parish has something of value to offer. It’s time to initiate an “ante-up” philosophy to replace the “gimme” attitude that now prevails.
