Letter: Only raise foes deserve re-election

The members of our state Legislature who had the ethics and conscience to vote against the recent pay raise should be commended. They are the only ones we should allow to return to office.
Gov. Bobby Jindal should stand against this self-serving betrayal of the public by those elected to serve. If he truly wants to lead Louisiana into an era of responsible government, he must surely see the need to veto this violation of trust. If not, we, the people, cannot continue to support him in his pursuit of office.
Perhaps the most outrageous part of this experience is the way the Legislature has ignored the very obvious objections of the public to their actions. The people of Louisiana must defend themselves against these kinds of people, who abuse the power and responsibility they have been given.
May we all take the time to verify how our representatives and senators voted and respond accordingly at the first opportunity.
