Letter: Jindal should stand up to lawmakers

Louisiana is at a crossroad. Now is the time for Gov. Bobby Jindal to step up and stand up to the Louisiana Legislature.
The same legislators who have unethically given themselves an obscene and immediate raise denied immediate tax relief by delaying repeal of the Stelly Plan into 2009.
Where are the promises of reform? These civic-minded legislators failed to raise the supplemental pay of firefighters and law enforcement officers. Why are these front-line protectors denied while the back-room dealmakers are rewarded?
I challenge Bobby Jindal to veto the legislators’ pay raise. Stand up for progress in this state.
