Letter: Jindal’s partisanship disappointing

  • Published: Mar 21, 2008 - Page: 8B - UPDATED: 12:05 a.m.
I was disappointed when I read in the March 12 edition of The Advocate that Gov. Bobby Jindal was one of the four-member executive board of the Republican Governor’s Association that called for New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer to resign because of his association with a prostitute in Washington, D.C.

Gov. Jindal had only two months earlier co-hosted a fundraiser for Sen. David Vitter, R-La., who had an association with a prostitute in Washington, D.C.

Prior to this I had high expectations for Gov. Jindal.

He said countless times during his campaign and was quoted in his victory speech that “The time for partisan politics is behind us.” I wanted to believe that.

The governor has condemned the behavior of one from the opposing party while publicly supporting another from his own party who is also guilty of the same behavior. That is the definition of partisan politics.
