Police Jury agrees on chain of command
CLINTON — The East Feliciana Police Jury unanimously agreed Tuesday to make the parish manager the top person in its employee chain of command.
Jury President Louis Kent said parish employees have not always understood the chain of command, even though it has always been the intent of the governing body to have its employees report to the parish manager.
Parish Manager Judith Kelly has 30 years’ experience with the Police Jury, Kent said.
In other action, the jury:
- Named Hunt, DeLatte and Associates consultants for the Community Development Block Fund Disaster grant it is seeking in hurricane recovery funds. Kelly said the parish hopes to receive $3 million for disaster recovery projects.
- Approved an after-the-fact permit for the Slaughter ballpark building on the recommendation of building inspector Larry Thompson, who said the work had begun without a parish building permit. He said he shut down the work on the project until a structural engineer drew up plans.
- Agreed to send road graders to the Bluff Creek and Norwood areas after jurors “tweaked” the parish’s six-week road work rotation.
