Cash stolen from Walker Walmart
WALKER — A woman dressed in a Walmart uniform stole more than $1,000 in cash Saturday after persuading a Walker Walmart cashier that she had to check the register, Police Chief Hunter Grimes said.
The woman walked into the store around 3:30 p.m. wearing a uniform, including a Walmart badge, and went up to a cashier, Grimes said.
“She advised her she needed to check the register. This is a normal procedure,” Grimes said.
The cashier turned over the cash drawer to the woman, who proceeded to take out the money, he said.
The woman then put $1,671 in cash in a moneybag, placed it in her shirt and walked out of the store, Grimes said.
The woman was last seen in a silver Chevrolet four-door sedan, Grimes said.
The incident was reported to the Walker Police Department around 6 p.m., he said.
Grimes said that he hopes to work with the store to create a better security policy to prevent such incidents in the future.
Off-duty Walker police officers work security details at the store, he said.
