Carencro man held in attack on woman
LAFAYETTE — A 53-year-old Carencro man wanted on a count of attempted second-degree murder of a woman turned himself in Tuesday morning.
Paul Brown surrendered at the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday and was booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center.
Brown was wanted in connection with an incident Sunday in which he allegedly cut a woman on the head and neck. The woman suffered minor wounds in the attack.
The incident occurred about 6:30 p.m. in a parking lot in the 1200 block of Northwest Evangeline Thruway.
DNA sample leads to arrest of suspect
NEW IBERIA — DNA allegedly linked a 19-year-old from New Iberia to a May 31 attempted burglary.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office reported in a news release that Joseph Touchet Jr. was arrested on counts of attempted simple burglary, criminal damage to property and criminal trespass.
The burglary attempt occurred May 31 in the 4500 block of Freetown Road.
Authorities responded to a residential alarm and found that the burglar had left fingerprints and blood on a glass from a broken window, the release stated.
Investigators obtained a warrant for Touchet’s arrest Oct. 27.
Touchet was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail with a $10,000 bond, the release stated.
