White Castle ferry to return to service

WHITE CASTLE — The White Castle ferry will return to service today, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development announced.

The 17-car ferry will operate from 4:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, a DOTD news release says.

Ferry service at the White Castle landing stopped in April 2008 due to a shortage of licensed marine engineers to operate the vessel, the news release said.
