Assessor starts 4-day work week
Starting today, the Livingston Parish Assessor’s Office has a four-day work week, Assessor Jeff Taylor said, which should allow more working people to get to the office before it closes.
The office will be open from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
Ramp metering meeting
The state Department of Transportation and Development holds a public meeting from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to discuss ramp metering. The meeting is at Walker High School.
Ramp metering is a traffic management tool that DOTD plans to implement along the Interstate 12 corridor in order to reduce congestion and improve traffic safety.
The project involves installing traffic signals on interstate entrance ramps that allow vehicles to merge one at a time onto the interstate.
As roposed, the meters will operate only during peak traffic hours in the morning and afternoon, according to DOTD officials,
DOTD holds another meeting next week at Southside Junior High School in Denham Springs. That meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Nov. 10.
Walker business forum
Walker hosts a Connecting in the New Economy forum at 6 p.m. Thursday for businesses in the Walker community.
The hourlong event will be at Revival Temple, 28521 Walker South Road.
Featured speakers include Trumpet Group founder and CEO Robbie Vitrano and Tiger District founder and CEO Jared Loftis.
