Pedestrian hit by car in critical condition
LAFAYETTE — A Wednesday night crash on Johnston Street left a 46-year-old New Iberia man in critical condition.
Quintrell Leblanc was attempting to walk across the southbound lane of Johnston Street when he stepped into the path of an oncoming vehicle, police reported in a news release.
Leblanc was struck and thrown into the median about 7 p.m. in the 5700 block of Johnston Street, the release says.
Leblanc was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition, the release says. The driver of the vehicle was not injured in the crash.
Clerk, boyfriend arrested in robbery
LAFAYETTE — Police arrested a store clerk and her boyfriend after the two allegedly staged a robbery at a local convenience store.
The incident occurred about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday at a Hit and Run store in the 800 block of Ambassador Caffery Parkway, according to a news release.
Arrested were Michelle Fontenot, 21, of Duson, and her boyfriend, Duffield Anibal, 40, also of Duson, the news release says.
Fontenot initially told police a robber armed with a gun entered the store, demanded cash and then fled to a waiting vehicle nearby, the release says.
Investigators determined the robbery was staged, the release says.
Both were booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center on one count each of armed robbery.
