LAKE CHARLES — Authorities said a man arrested earlier this week on a charge of second-degree murder has been arrested on a charge of possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Austin Michael Rousseau, 21, and four others were arrested Monday in connection with the death of Daniel Gueringer.
Rousseau was released on $25,000 bond.
Bryce Perkins, whom police have identified as the shooter, has also been charged with possessing a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
His bond was set at $560,000.
Police on Tuesday reportedly found a gun that they were able to connect to Rousseau.
Authorities gather drug suspects
JENA — Dozens of drug suspects are being rounded up in LaSalle Parish as more than 100 law enforcement officers from 10 agencies are taking part in Operation Third Option.
Five major drug distribution suspects were arrested early Thursday as the operation was launched at 5 a.m.
Authorities said those arrests will put a huge dent in drug distribution operations in LaSalle, Catahoula and Winn parishes.
Local, state and federal officers are taking part in roundup.
Winnsboro man, 48, sentenced in rapes
WINNSBORO — A Winnsboro man has received three consecutive life sentences, one for each conviction of aggravated rape.
District Attorney William R. “Billy” Coenen said state District Judge Terry Doughty sentenced 48-year-old Wyatt L. Morgan on Tuesday.
Wyatt was charged with separately sexually assaulting three women — one age 68 and two age 89 at the time they were attacked — in 1995, 2000 and 2003.
