Iberville group seeks ouster of board member
PLAQUEMINE — North Iberville Concerned Citizens Inc., a group opposed to the closing of North Iberville High School, has filed a recall petition seeking to have Iberville Parish School Board member David Daigle removed from office, said the Rev. Reginald Pitcher, a member of the group.
According to Louisiana law, the petitioners have to collect more than 500 signatures of registered voters in the district to force a new election in the School Board’s District B, which Daigle represents. The group wants Daigle removed from office because he voted in favor of closing the school and sending some of its students to Plaquemine High based on the recommendation of Superintendent Ed Cancienne.
