Pointe Coupee Central High School in Morganza is hosting “The Competitive Edge,” job skills workshop from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday in the school’s gym.
The workshop is intended to offer participants an inside track on searching for jobs.
The workshop will feature talks from Dr. Al Barron and Lawrence Steward. Participants will get training in résumé writing and learning communication skills.
They also will learn how to conduct a successful job search and what employers are looking for in the perfect employee. The program is hosted by the nonprofit group Advance Baton Rouge.
A cemetery program
The West Baton Rouge Parish Library and the West Baton Rouge Genealogical Society are inviting the public to attend “St. Joseph’s Cemetery and Its Relationship to West Baton Rouge Parish,” a program being held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday at the library.
Amateur historian and genealogist Chip Landry, sexton of St. Joseph’s Cemetery, will preside over the program. Landry is a Baton Rouge native and a Vietnam War veteran.
There will be a short “meet and greet,” coffee session before the program from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

WBR chamber events
The West Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce is hosting a variety of events this month.
At 1:30 p.m. July 15, the chamber is sponsoring a grand opening and ribbon cutting at Investar Bank, 3761 La. 1, Port Allen.
