Drum corps stop in Lafayette

The 2009 Drum Corps International Tour will make a stop at Cajun Field in Lafayette on July 20.

Eight drum and bugle corps groups are scheduled to perform: the Phantom Regiment of Illinois, the Cadets of Pennsylvania, the Boston Crusaders of Massachusetts, the Teal Sound of Florida, the Glassmen of Ohio, the Academy of Arizona, the Pioneers of Wisconsin and the Revolution of Texas.

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s “Pride of Acadiana” marching band will host the event.

The show begins at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets on sale for Dora

“Dora the Explorer Live! Search of the City of Lost Toys” is scheduled Aug. 18 and Aug. 19 at the Heymann Center in Lafayette.

The tour, produced by Nickelodeon and Broadway Across America, is based on the popular children’s television show.

The show is sponsored by the Performing Arts Society of Acadiana.

Tickets are available at the Heymann Center and at all TicketMaster outlets.

Gospel fundraiser set

The Angels of Mercy 2nd annual Back to School Gospel Explosion is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 8  at the Clifton Chenier Center on Willow Street.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to purchase school supplies and uniforms for area children.
