The East Feliciana Community Center will hold an Easter sunrise service for the community on the front steps of the old Clinton High School 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. Sunday. The Rev. Wayne Barnes, pastor emeritus of Zachary First Baptist Church, will lead the service. In the event of inclement weather, activities will be moved into the old Clinton High School auditorium. Coffee and doughnuts will be served.
Hemingbough service
Hemingbough’s outdoor theatre will again be the site of an interdenominational Easter sunrise service Sunday at 7 a.m. sharp. Hemingbough is off U.S. 61, north of the entrance to River Bend Station. Call (225) 635-6617.
Legislators’ meetings
State Reps. Tom McVea, R-St. Francisville, and John Bel Edwards, D-Amite, will hold two “town hall” meetings April 24: from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the East Feliciana Police Jury office in Clinton and at the West Feliciana Courthouse Annex in St. Francisville from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Constituents are invited to stop by to discuss legislative issues. State Rep. Major Thibaut Jr., who also represents part of West Feliciana, will join the two in St. Francisville.
Nuclear plant discussion
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission will hold an open house from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. April 23 to discuss and answer questions about the 2008 safety performance of the River Bend Station nuclear power plant.
The open house is informal and will be at the River Bend Station Training Center Auditorium, 5485 U.S. 61-N near St. Francisville.
City manager, anyone?
The Republican Women of Baker and Zachary will hold a discussion at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Zachary branch library’s conference room on the city manager form of local government. Gene Bruner will lead the discussion.
Jurors meet constituents
A meeting for residents of West Feliciana Parish Police Jury District 6 and Lake Rosemound will be held at 6 p.m. today at the courthouse annex in St. Francisville. Parish Manager Ambrose Sims and Jurors Ken Dawson and Billy Shoemake are scheduled to attend.
Spring Garden Stroll
Louisiana Master Gardeners of the LSU Agriculture Center plan a self-guided garden tour from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 18 in West Feliciana Parish. Featured are the farms of Buddy Metz and Lloyd Lindsey and the gardens of Tina Reid at Coyote Creek and Michelle and Craig Roth at Avondale. Tour tickets are $10 and may be purchased the day of the tour at the St. Francisville Town Hall.
Butcher block aids relay
Master carpenter Byron Minor, of Lane Regional Medical Center, in Zachary has made a butcher block table to raise money for the Zachary/Baker Relay for Life, scheduled for 5 p.m. April 17 on the hospital’s walking track.
The table may be seen from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily in the hospital cafeteria, and $5 chances may be purchased in the Executive Office.
