Iberville Parish parents and students alike are encouraged to fill out applications ahead of the March 16 deadline for the parish’s two Math, Science and Arts academies.

The two academies — at the E.J. Gay Campus in Plaquemine and at the St. Gabriel Community Center in St. Gabriel — offer students an intensive curriculum in math, science and English, while also providing students opportunities to participate in theater, dance and music classes.

For the 2009-10 school year, the academies are expanding to include the sixth and 10th grades in addition to the seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade levels being offered.

The deadline for applications is 4 p.m. March 16. Students (and parents) will be notified at 6 p.m. April 16 at the School Board office if they have been selected for admission.

For information, contact the academies at (225) 687-6845.
