Driver held after multiparish chase
TICKFAW — A driver who refused to pull over for driving through Tickfaw with his headlights off led village police and sheriff’s deputies on a chase weaving through both Livingston and Tangipahoa parishes Tuesday night.
The fleeing vehicle twice reached speeds at or near 100 mph, deputies said.
After racing through Hammond’s University Drive and eastern Livingston Parish, Michael Adam Barron, 23, 36450 La. 441, Holden, was stopped in his flight by Livingston Parish deputies who deployed a spike strip on U.S. 190 near Satsuma, west of La. 449, deputies said.
Inside the 1993 Honda Civic that Barron was driving, deputies found a loaded AR-15 rifle and several open alcoholic beverage containers, Tangipahoa Parish sheriff’s deputies said in a statement issued Wednesday.
During the initial part of the chase south of Tickfaw on U.S. 51, Barron slowed the Civic to just 5 or 10 mph while a woman passenger left the moving car. The woman tried to stand but fell to the side of the highway, deputies said.
Deputies picked up the woman, Daisy McNeese, no age or address given, who declined medical aid. Deputies said they arrested her on Hammond police and court warrants.
Deputies said McNeese told them Barron pushed her out of the car but that she did not know him.
Barron took police and deputies south on U.S. 51, west on University Avenue, north on Interstate 55, west on La. 442 and eventually west on U.S. 190.
Barron drove the Civic at speeds of 98 and 100 mph on I-55 and La. 442, respectively, crossing into oncoming lanes of traffic several times, deputies said.
Tangipahoa deputies booked Barron with aggravated flight from an officer, deputies said.
