A man wanted in the fatal shooting of Quincy Demond Gaines, 26, surrendered to authorities on Thursday, a Baton Rouge Police Department spokesman said. Brandon Charles Warner, 23, 400 Evergreen St., is accused of shooting Gaines, 158 S. 11th St., at 9:52 a.m. Wednesday, Sgt. Don Kelly said.


A U.S. District Court grand jury Thursday indicted the security guard who claimed she was attacked while working at LSU but later admitted she had stabbed herself. The driver of a second car believed to have struck one or both of the pedestrians in a fatal crash last week on North Street has come forward, police said. LAFAYETTE — The Lafayette Police Department asks for the public’s help in identifying a man who entered an apartment on Wilson Street without permission. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. Monday in the 600 block of Wilson Street, according to a news release.


PLAQUEMINE — Seven people involved in a three-vehicle wreck Wednesday were taken to a Baton Rouge hospital for treatment of injuries, the Police Department reported.


RACELAND — The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office asked the public Wednesday to help in its investigation of a Tuesday night armed robbery in which one of the robbers was armed with a semi-automatic AK-47 assault rifle.


The security guard stabbed Saturday at the LSU Paul M. Hebert Law Center has now told investigators she injured herself, an LSU Police spokesman said Tuesday.


LAROSE — Deputies arrested five people and were looking for two others on cocaine distribution counts after an undercover sting in the “Two-Three” area of Larose, the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office reported.


A 24-year-old man was in serious condition late Tuesday after being shot during a robbery on Sharp Lane, a Police Department spokesman said.
