Police and fire briefs for Feb. 8, 2010
Police arrested a woman Saturday for allegedly forcing her nieces to put their hands on a hot stove, an arrest warrant says.
Nedra Berry, 31, grabbed the hands of the girls, who are 11 and 12, on Jan. 29, and held them on a hot stove at a Baton Rouge home, the warrant says.
The children told investigators that Berry burned their hands to punish them for stealing something from school, the warrant says.
Berry, 2279 74th Ave., was booked into Parish Prison on two counts of cruelty to juveniles.
The victims’ grandfather, James Tucker, 46, 2232 Thomas Road, was booked into Parish Prison on two counts of principal to cruelty to a juvenile. Tucker allegedly saw the incident, which occurred at his home, but did not stop it, the warrant says.
