Port Allen man killed in 3-vehicle accident
PORT ALLEN — A man involved in a three-vehicle wreck Sunday evening was killed after being thrown from his vehicle, State Police reported.
David Anding, 57, of Port Allen, was driving a 2001 GMC pickup south on La. 1 at 6 p.m. Sunday when his vehicle veered into the oncoming northbound traffic lanes, Trooper Russell Graham, a State Police spokesperson said in a news release.
Anding’s vehicle crossed into the path of a 1999 GMC pickup driven by Brennon Lyons, 19, of Addis, Graham said.
Lyon’s vehicle struck the right side of Anding’s truck, throwing Anding from the vehicle into the roadway, Graham said.
During the wreck, Lyons’ truck began to rotate before striking the front left fender of a Chevrolet pickup driven by Blake Panepinto, 20, of Addis, Graham said.
Lyons and Panepinto were wearing seat belts.
Troopers said they don’t believe either driver was impaired by alcohol.
Anding was not wearing a seat belt during the crash, and was seriously injured, Graham reported. He was taken to Baton Rouge General Medical Center Mid-City where he died from his injuries.
Troopers suspect that Anding was driving while impaired at the time of the wreck.
